What is an independent midwife?
We are midwives who work independently, what this means is we have decided to work outside of the NHS. The word midwife derives from the name (with woman) and the only way we felt we can fulfil this is, is by working with a small caseload providing continuity of care.
What are the benefits of having an Independent Midwife?
There is a vast amount of evidence stating if you know your own midwife, you will have a greater chance of a normal birth, shorter labour, less need of pain relief, higher breast-feeding rates and reduced chances developing postnatal depression.
You choose one midwife to care for you, someone you will get to know and build a trusting relationship with.
Our caseload is small to provide a caring and individualised service designed to meet your needs.
What are your choices/options? Your choices and options are fully discussed and explained, using latest evidence and research
Visits are in your home including evenings and weekends if that is more convenient.
You can contact us 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Postnatal care provided up to 28 days.
Where Can I have my baby?
Most of our clients opt to have their baby at home. We will however come and be your birth supporter and advocate in a birth centre/hospital if you wish.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions
Just wanted to say a big thank you for the support you have given us. We felt support through and after the birth – and I think your calmness gave us the ability to make Archie calm.
